A Global Collaborative for Conscious Transformation
This Open Forum introduces the new initiative with the working title – Transpersonal Federation | Federación Transpersonal – a global working group in development to form a unifying transpersonal umbrella organization. The initiative aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among transpersonal associations and professionals worldwide, aligning efforts across multidisciplinary fields of science, consciousness, spirituality, psychology, the arts, education, politics, economy, ecology, and ancestral wisdom traditions.
The goal is to strengthen the collective impact of transpersonal activities through internationally coordinated events, shared resources, and integrative approaches to planetary transformation. Emphasizing ethical action, systemic change, and unity in diversity, the Federation aspires to co-create a regenerative, peace-oriented culture rooted in transpersonal values.
This Open Forum invites transpersonal organisations and fellow experts to engage in dialogue, offer feedback, and contribute to the ongoing co-creative process of emergent further future steps of planetary transpersonal collaboration.
At the EUROTAS Conference 2024, organized by Alef Trust in Oxford, UK, board members of the International Transpersonal Association (ITA) and the EUROTAS Global Transpersonal Network convened to explore the possibility of establishing a unified transpersonal umbrella organization. This initiative emerged from a shared vision to enhance global collaboration within the transpersonal field, fostering greater synergy among existing transpersonal associations and enhancing the impact of the transpersonal field worldwide.
The primary objective of this initiative is to build bridges between transpersonal organizations, thereby amplifying the impact of transpersonal activities, education, research, and publications on a global scale. To advance this vision, we are forming a committee tasked with outlining the mission, vision, activities, governance structure, financial planning, and founding principles of the proposed organization.

ABOUT Regina U. Hess, Ph.D., (NL/PT)
Regina U. Hess, Ph.D. (Netherlands/Portugal), is a clinical psychologist from Germany, a shamanic practitioner, a planetary educator, and a sacred activist, holding a Ph.D. in transpersonal psychology (USA/UK). She is the visionary Founder/Director of Birthing an Ancient Future – a Multidisciplinary Council of Peace-Builders – creating global learning spaces where Indigenous knowledges, body-centered transformation, alchemical ceremony, and psychedelic science converge. Guided by Indigenous ethics of Respect, Reciprocity, and Responsibility, her work advocates transpersonal education, planetary healing, and transcultural peace. Dr. Hess is faculty at Alef Trust (UK), serves in leadership roles on the Boards of EUROTAS and the International Transpersonal Association, and is Vice President of ETPA. An international speaker and author, she is a multidimensional, transformative weaver and bridge-builder, as planetary guardian, committed to the further evolution of sacred planetary consciousness for the benefit of all relations.

ABOUT Pier Luigi Lattuada MD, Ph.D., (Italy)
Pier Luigi Lattuada is a doctor, psychologist, and psychotherapist. Director of the School of Training in Transpersonal Psychotherapy recognized by the MIUR and of the Higher Education Training School in Transpersonal Counseling. President of ITI – Integral Transpersonal Institute of Milan. President of EUROTAS – Global Transpersonal Network. Professor at Meridien University, California, and director of the Integral Transpersonal Psychology Program at Ubiquity University. He has taught at Sofia University and Palo Alto University, California.
In the 1980s he founded BIOTRANSENERGETICS – a psycho-spiritual discipline that we could define as a poetic act since it teaches creativity in the art of self-giving in the face of psychophysical distress, towards Self-realization.
He has been composing poetry since the age of 16, and has written and published numerous books, both essays and short stories, on transpersonal psychotherapy, integral medicine, and Biotransenergetics.

ABOUT Zana Marovic, Ph.D., (South Africa)
Dr Zana Marovic, is an international speaker and trainer for integrative psychotherapy. She is a clinical psychologist, integrative psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, and remedial yoga therapist with a PhD in health psychology (2000, UNISA). Dr Marovic consults from her private practice as well as The WITS University, Donald Gordon Clinic, Pelvic Floor Unit in Johannesburg.
Dr Marovic is president of The International Transpersonal Association. Her leadership in the International Transpersonal Association reflects her deep commitment to holistic wellness and the integration of body, mind, and spirit. Her work continues to inspire a global community, offering pathways to healing that honor both the scientific and the sacred.
Dr Marovic has been an invited and keynote speaker at conferences in Europe, Asia, the USA and South America. She has published papers in international academic journals, a book on clinical supervision and served as a member of international conference organising and scientific committees (Greece, 2014; Czech Republic, 2017, India, 2018, The United Arab Emirates, 2019).

ABOUT Harris L. Friedman, Ph.D., (USA)
Dr. Harris L. Friedman has dedicated his life to exploring the depths of human consciousness and its potential for transformation.
Harris has contributed over 300 scholarly papers and books, offering profound insights that bridge the gap between psychology and spirituality. He has served as a Fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the Association of Psychological Science and a Senior Editor of the International Journal of Transpersonal Studies and Associate Editor of the Humanistic Psychologist, a past President of both the International Transpersonal Association and the Association for Transpersonal Psychology.
Beyond his academic achievements, Harris practices clinical psychology, offering coaching and organizational consulting services that draw on his rich understanding of human potential. His work in these areas is driven by a passion for helping others navigate their own journeys of self-discovery and growth.

ABOUT Maria Cristina M. de Barros, Ph.D., (Brazil)
Dr. Maria Cristina M. de Barros is a clinical psychologist and psycho-oncologist. With a PhD in Sciences from the Institute of Psychiatry at the University of São Paulo, Cristina’s expertise lies in understanding the profound connections between spiritual well-being and psychological healing.
She specialized in this field at Alubrat, Brazil, where her leadership as vice-president for eight years helped shape the direction of transpersonal studies in the region.
Cristina has been instrumental in teaching postgraduate courses on Transpersonal Psychology throughout Brazil. As a co-founder of AlmacomCiência (“Soul in Science”), Cristina has been at the forefront of efforts to integrate spiritual perspectives into scientific inquiry.
Her involvement in programs like PROSER (Program for Studies in Health, Spirituality, and Religiosity) and PROEXP (Program for Studies and Research on Anomalous Experiences and Their Integration into Clinical Practice) further reflects her commitment to expanding the understanding of how spiritual experiences can be harmonized with clinical practice.

ABOUT Ingrida Indane, MA, Ph.D. Cand., (Latvia)
Psychotherapist, artist, educator, and supervisor.
Since 2008, she has held the EUROTAS Certificate of Transpersonal Psychotherapy. Founder and director of the Transpersonal Education Institute in Latvia and a board member of EUROTAS.
She has studied visual arts, pedagogy, psychology, psychotherapy, art therapy, and family constellations. She is currently working on her doctoral dissertation on the topic of “Transpersonal Performance.”

Sasha Avensov, Ph.D., President, Association of Transpersonal Psychology, USA
Dr. Sasha Avanesov has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology / Sofia University. He is currently the Clinical Site Supervisor of the Common Ground Residential Facility and an adjunct faculty member at Sofia University. Sasha works in Private Practice in San Francisco, CA, USA.

ABOUT Steven Schmitz, Ph.D., (USA)
Steven Schmitz holds a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. His doctoral research was on “The Therapeutic Use of the Shamanic Journey.” Steven has a private practice in Shamanic Counselling, Transpersonal Counselling, and Spiritual Guidance.
He is an international teacher, lecturer, and workshop leader on topics of shamanism, transpersonal psychology, rituals, and healing. Dr. Schmitz is a faculty member at international transpersonal schools – Alef Trust (UK), Integral Transpersonal Institute (Italy), Latvian Transpersonal Educational Institute (Latvia), and Ubiquity University (USA). He also lectures at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Steven has taught graduate-level courses at California Institute of Integral Studies, the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and Sofia University (USA). He has presented at several international conferences.
Dr. Schmitz is a former President of the Association for Transpersonal Psychology (ATP), a former Board Officer of the European Transpersonal Association (Eurotas), and a Founding Board Member of the International Q’eros Foundation (IQF). He is currently a Board Member and Outreach Committee Chair of ATP.

ABOUT Roman Gonzalvo, Ph.D., (Spain)
Doctor in Psychology, General Health Psychologist and Psychotherapist graduated from the Autonomous University of Madrid (2005), practicing since 2009.
He is the president of the Ibero-American Transpersonal Association (ATI), the editor of the Journal of Transpersonal Research® (JTR) and the teacher of tanspersonal psychology class in the Master of Mindfulness at the University of Zaragoza.
He has been also teacher of transpersonal psychology at the Vizcaya University of the Americas (Colima, Mexico) and has offered seminars at the Public University of Navarra, the National University of Distance Education (UNED), the California Institute of Integral Studies (San Francisco) and the University of Pretoria (South Africa). He has also carried out research visits at the Indian Statistical Institute (Calcutta), and at Sofia University (Palo Alto, US).
He is also the coordinator of the working group on transpersonal psychology and psychotherapy at the Official College of Psychology of Madrid.

ABOUT Juan Antonio de la Cruz Martín, M.A., (Spain)
Juan works as Counsellor and advisor from a transpersonal approach, self-discovery processes and personal development. Founder and director of EADA Self Discovery Transpersonal Initiatory School Project (Retreat Center) where psychotherapy and online activities are carried out. He studied and practiced in the traditions of psychology, philosophy, spirituality, shamanism, religion, esoteric and oracular traditions, for the unveiling of the quantum physics of the Mystery of Existence.
He has training in Transpersonal Gestalt (Enneagram, Bioenergetics, Bioenergetic Analysis of character, Mythical Hero’s Journey). He guides, supervises and advices individuals, couples, systems and teams in psychodrama, art therapy, coaching and regressive therapy. He has practiced buddhist psychology, meditation, dance and body work. He worked as a team director of different companies and projects. He has been 12 years in retreat.

ABOUT Iuliana Costea (Romania)
Dr. Iuliana Costea has a substantial academic and professional background in psychology. Since 2009, she has been serving as a university professor in the Psychology Department at the Faculty of Sociology and Psychology, which is part of the West University of Timisoara. Her roles and expertise extend beyond teaching; she is also a clinical psychologist and is actively involved in the Collage of Psychologist from Romania.
Dr. Costea is certified in various specialized areas within psychology. These include clinical psychology, educational psychology, as well as family and couple counselling and psychotherapy, with a specific focus on experiential and transpersonal methods.
